Municipality Alfarnatejo is an administrative unit in Province Malaga.

Municipality Alfarnatejo is located in autonomous community of Andalusia, southern Spain. It is part of Malaga province. The village is situated 858 meters above sea level in northwest of the Axarquia, 50 kilometers north-east of the provincial capital city of Malaga and 36 km north of Vélez Málaga. Alfarnatejo is surrounded by several peaks such as the Pico del Chamizo to the west, at 1,637 metres high; the Pico del Gallo to the east at 1,556 metres or the Vilo peak at 1,412 metres.

The history of the region dates back to prehistoric times. A number of Neolithic remains have been found in the River Sabar gorge, and in the Gómer cliffs, objects some 5000 years old have been discovered.
The evolution of the town has always been linked to that of its close neighbour town of Alfarnate, from which it separated in the 18th century.

Nowadays the village is visited by tourists on the "tour of the White Villages Route".
