Cortegana is beautiful small white town, located in the Parque Natural Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche in province of Huelva. The park has been declared a Biosphere Reserve.
Probably, the name Cortegana is derived from the word "cork" which was main source of wealth for the region in its past.
The main sight of Cortegana is the majestic medieval fortress perched on the hill above. A view to surely impress even the most well-traveled.
In region were found archaeological remains of the Neolithic age.
